Another windy day, which limits our mobility quite a bit; so I’m sorry to say that this will be another un-adventurous entry, with a few minor exceptions. We had lunch in again, which was a good move seeing how dinner was sooooo expensive. But we’ll get to that later.
There was a special treat for us at the orphanage today. We got to see an “open house” featuring our little darling daughter. The primary “teacher” in her nursery, Jenarr, put Asella through a couple of exercises, speaking to her in both Russian and Kazakh. Asella performed admirably in front of the entire staff as she patiently allowed Jenarr to bend her in half, stick her on large rubber balls, and walk her around the room like a trained capuchin. All of this was done to live musical accompaniment on the piano with the messed up keys. It was very entertaining and good to see what happens to her on a semi-regular basis. The orphanage director said the teacher was doing a good job, so that’s good.

The rest of the visit was good. She is intent on standing up and tries like crazy to do it herself. No feeding today, as it seems they fueled her up before the show. Right before we had to say goodbye she made a deposit at the Bank of Poop. It’s rather convenient to say, “Um… we have to go know, please take care of this for us. Thanks.” That’s not going to last too much longer though.

After the visit we went to a souvenir store (again) to get a few more things on our list. I’m quite ready to be done with this whole shopping malarkey. It’s just not wired into my chromosomes.
We tried a new place for dinner, the Coffee & Tea House by the mosque. There were pictures on the menu, just like Denny’s, and some of the descriptions were in Italian, so I could juxtapose Spanish and figure those out. But the prices were about 3-4 times higher than all the other restaurants. Weird, but we discovered why. The food was really good. Sarah got a cream of mushroom soup with fresh mushrooms (not canned) and a buttery croissant. I had a chicken sandwich (this is the first sandwich we’ve seen) with lettuce and tomato! All told the bill ran $9, but next time we might have to splurge for the pasta dishes which cost about $7 each! Yikes! Highway robbery.
Welp, that’s about it. Another day closer. Talk to you later.
