Subject: It's Wednesday
Mood full

Hiya folks. Another beautiful day here in Kazakhstan. The weather is starting to warm up nicely, and any day now the indigenous peoples will emerge from their cocoons of gortex, down jackets and long ivans. (They don’t have long johns here.) It’s a bit late, so this one will have to be brief.

Back to the routine for lunch – a huge meal at Knick-knack, our favorite place. They have awesomely gooey chocolate, vanilla, caramel cake. Yum! Sarah got to feed Asella again today and did another nice job. I gave the milk shot a shot and when we were through, I had a bowl of milk. It went in her mouth and came right back out. Weird. Playtime was the usual, though she seemed interested in standing up today. I guess she’s going to bypass crawling and go straight to rhythmic gymnastics, or walking, whichever usually comes first.

Here she is thinking about a career as an actuary. Daddy is very scared.

We walked back a good ways from the orphanage and then spent the afternoon being lazy. For dinner we went back to the Art Café for what will now be the last and final time. Instead of taking 3 hours tonight the kitchen was very on top of things, putting our food out for us LONG before it was cooked. Our table better resembled a petting zoo than a meal. I heard mooing. So the beef and chicken went back to cook and we had a more leisurely paced dinner, as we had anticipated. During dinner Eugene prepared us for pre-court tomorrow, which will be just like actual court, only it’s one week earlier (hence the name). It sounds like it should be relatively painless, as we have a good answer for the potential question of, “Why didn’t you just adopt one of your nieces or nephews?” We don’t have any, otherwise we would most certainly have considered grand theft toddler. The other question we’re going to have to work on is, “Do you plan to do massive amounts of bodily harm to your child.” My answer is no, but I cannot vouch for Sarah. You know how she is.

Then we left the restaurant, walked home, got some ice cream, and starting typing this rather boring entry. Sorry, tomorrow’s court session should make for better reading. Until then…
